Pardon My Pancreas - Type 1 Diabetes with Matt Vande Vegte

Zig When Diabetes Zags (My 100 Mile Disaster)

FTF Warrior Season 6 Episode 94

7 site changes, 2 vials of insulin, 1 meltdown... What do you do when diabetes doesn't follow the "rules" anymore?

I'll be transparent - I had a hard week with diabetes.I made it work... as we all do... but it was a tough one.

What made it even tougher is that it ended with me heading into my biggest Ironman training block ever...

100 miles on the bike, 10 miles on a run.

And believe it or not... blood sugars......... still didn't cooperate.

They did, however, give me a really interesting lesson through the disaster (as they always do it you're willing to listen to them).

In today's episode I walk through the enormous amount of insulin needed to stay in range during my century bike ride...

As well as the distinction discovered through my training block that allowed me to "recover" my diabetes management amidst the chaos.

Give it a listen for the lesson, stay for the ridiculous story.
